Stronger Families. Stronger Communities. Stronger Washington

Rep. Abbarno has made early learning, kindergarten readiness, and child care a priority as a husband and parent, community volunteer, and public official. He is former President and current board member of the Centralia College Foundation, former board member with the Boys and Girls Club of Lewis County, volunteers in many school mentorship programs and WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students), and was an organizer and supporter of the United Learning Center in Centralia.

As a member of the Washington State House of Representatives and Assistant Ranking Member on the House Capital Budget Committee, Rep. Abbarno has supported increasing Early Learning Facility (ELF) Grants; strengthening child care programs by expanding access to support services, mental health consultations, dual language supports, complex needs funding; and growing recruitment and retention for child care businesses by increasing subsidy rates, expanding access to health insurance for providers, and providing resources for professional development and scholarships. Rep. Abbarno also crossed the political aisle to co-sponsor the statewide implementation of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library with Rep. Monica Stonier (D-Vancouver).

“There are few better long-term investments for our communities and our families than providing a quality early learning program and facilities and making sure children are kindergarten ready and parents have the ability to pursue successful educational and career opportunities,” said Rep. Peter Abbarno.
