Stronger Families. Stronger Communities. Stronger Washington

Rep. Ed Orcutt (R-Kalama) and Rep. Peter Abbarno (R-Centralia) spoke on the House Floor before a unanimous vote in favor of HB 2433. Working in partnership with Lewis County and the SW Washington Fair, HB 2433 would help streamline the financing of the fair.

The Southwest Washington Fair is a regional fair but the state has a long history of supporting it. Lewis County manages the Fair and fairgrounds all year long, not just during the week of the Fair. There are legal and county headaches with properly reimbursing the county for non-Fair activities, it is a nuisance, and takes great energy. Lewis County is required to run two departments even though the departments share staff and resources.
