Stronger Families. Stronger Communities. Stronger Washington.
The newly redistricted 20th District includes a small portion of South Thurston County (West of Bucoda to Interstate 5); Lewis County East of Interstate 5 (including all of Centralia, Chehalis, and Napavine); Cowlitz County East of Interstate 5 (including all of Kalama and Woodland); and parts of Clark County (including all of La Center and Ridgefield) to the City of Vancouver.
To say the least, the 20th District is filled with amazing history and traditions and has a lot of economic potential if we create the right economic atmosphere. Together, let’s get Washington working again for our families and our businesses.
Issues Important to Our Community
How can we make it better?
Initiatives: You Spoke!
As your representative in the 20th Legislative District, I spoke on the House Floor numerous times urging the passage of all six initiatives. Ultimately, three initiatives passed.
- Initiative 2113 would fully restore the ability of law enforcement officers to engage in vehicular pursuit.
- Initiative 2081 would establish a parental bill of rights, so that parents would have authority over their child’s school and medical records.
- Initiative 2111 would prohibit state and local personal income taxes in Washington stat
Three initiatives will be on at the top of your ballot this November, those initiatives signed by over 800,000 Washingtonians include. . .
Investing In Our Communities
As the ranking member on the House Capital Budget Committee, I had the privilege of serving as the lead Republican negotiator and author of the capital budget. The $1.33 billion spending plan invests heavily in K-12 school construction, mental health facilities, housing, and early learning facilities.
Thanks to the hard work and compromise of legislators in the House and Senate, this community-up, not Olympia-down, budget will made smart investments across Washington on priorities like behavioral healthcare, substance abuse treatment facilities, K-12 education, and home ownership.
Locally, investments were made from Thurston County through Clark County . . .
Protecting Your Rights during a Crime Crisis
Washington is experiencing some of the State’s highest crime rates in over a generation. Violent crime, property crime, burglaries are all a great concern to Washingtonians.
We’ve seen for years, the new laws stripped law-abiding citizens of their ability to protect themselves; at the same time, destructive policies that reduce penalties for criminals:
- House Bill 1268 would have reduced the sentences for gang, drug, and gun related crimes around schools and bus-stops;
- House Bill 2030 would have allowed convicted murderers spending life in prison to vote, serve on a jury and hold public office . . .
