Celebrating National Nurses Day!

Each year, May 6th, is observed to recognize the contributions and sacrifices of our country’s nurses. This year, during a pandemic, National Nurses Day may never be more important.

My family expresses our thanks and gratitude to each and every nurse for their contributions and sacrifices during the COVID-19 pandemic. The stories of nurses flying all around the country to answer the call where needed is inspiring to me and future generations of nurses! Thank you!

Florence Nightingale founded modern nursing toward the end of the 19th century. Thanks to her strict use of hand-washing and hygiene practices while caring for wounded soldiers in the Crimean War, Nightingale and her ‘nurses’ reduced the death rate from 42% to 2% — ushering in nursing as we know it today. On May 6, we recognize the important role nurses play in our lives by celebrating National Nurses Day.

We are thankful for our nurses, healthcare professionals, and first responders all year long. But, it truly shows the content of their character during these very unique times.
