Statement from State Representative Peter Abbarno on Winning a Fourth Term in the Washington State House of Representatives
I am incredibly honored and humbled by the overwhelming support from the people of Washington’s 20th Legislative District. Earning the trust of our communities to serve a fourth term in the Washington State House of Representatives is a privilege I will never take for granted.
First and foremost, thank you to my family, friends, volunteers, supporters, and the voters who placed their confidence in me once again. Your encouragement, hard work, prayers, and friendship have meant more to me than words can express.
This election was especially meaningful and challenging on a personal level. After undergoing back surgery in September and spending much of the past few months recovering, I wasn’t able to campaign the way I normally would. There were difficult days, physical limitations, and moments when I had to rely on others more than I am accustomed to. But through it all, my family, friends, and supporters stepped up in extraordinary ways. I will never forget that kindness and generosity.
I am especially grateful to my wife, Holly, and our children for their love, patience, and sacrifices. Public service is truly a family commitment, and I could not do this without them.
This was also a challenging election cycle for Republicans across the country and here in Washington state. Against that backdrop, the overwhelming support we received in the 20th District is especially humbling. I believe it reflects something important: People want leaders who listen, show up, work hard, and put their communities ahead of partisan politics.
Over the past six years, I have worked to build relationships without consideration of political party, find common ground, and deliver meaningful results for the people I represent. Whether it’s fighting to make Washington more affordable, supporting working families and small businesses, investing in schools and early learning, strengthening public safety, or securing critical infrastructure and community investments through the capital budget, my focus has always been on making our communities stronger.
That commitment will not change.
I also want to thank Andrew for running a good clean campaign about issues important to both of us, like public parks, renewable energy, and protecting agricultural land. I appreciate his campaign efforts. I recognize that representing the 20th Legislative District means representing everyone, regardless of political affiliation. I will continue working to earn your trust through accessibility, hard work, and results.
Elections are temporary. Relationships, community, and public service endure.
As I prepare for my fourth term, I do so with renewed energy, gratitude, and determination. There is much work ahead, and I look forward to continuing to be a strong voice for Southwest Washington in Olympia.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for standing with me, believing in me, and giving me the opportunity to continue serving.
Stronger Families. Stronger Communities. Stronger Washington.
Peter Abbarno
