State Representative Peter Abbarno (R- Centralia) announced the campaign kickoff for himself and seatmate State Representative Ed Orcutt (R-Kalama). Reps. Abbarno and Orcutt represent the 20th Legislative District which contains parts of Thruston, Lewis, Cowlitz, and Clark counties.
The kickoff breakfast event for their 2024 re-election is on Tuesday, April 9 in the Lewis County Veterans Memorial Museum beginning at 7:30am. A light breakfast will be served.
“It has been an honor representing the 20th Legislative District for the past 4 years and I look forward to representing Southwest Washington for another two years,” said Abbarno, ranking House Republican on the Capital Budget Committee. “I am proud to have worked on important issues such as re-criminalizing possession of illegal drugs; reinstating police pursuit; funding infrastructure projects; and investing in behavior health and substance abuse treatment.”
Rep. Abbarno also serves on the House Environment and Energy Committee, House Civil Rights and Judiciary Committee, and is the assistant Republican Floor Leader. Prior to his election to the State House of Representatives in 2020, Abbarno served on the Centralia City Council.
Abbarno noted that many communities are still facing a crime crisis and families are struggling to make ends meet at the kitchen table. He will continue to oppose failed cookie-cutter policies and keep advocating for investments in law enforcement and economic opportunities for all of Washington state.
“In addition to securing more than $135 million in Capital Budget projects over the past two years to benefit the 20th Legislative District, our delegation was able to prevent the passage of numerous ‘bad’ policies and push back on many others,” said Abbarno, referring to proposals from legislative Democrats to ban the use of natural gas; reduce sentences for criminals committing firearm crimes around schools; and implementing a personal income tax.
The April 9th kickoff breakfast is the first of several meet-and-greet events to be scheduled.
